Mining Geology Lab

The main objective of this lab is to provide the basic knowledge on geology mapping, identification of geological features such as Identifying the folds, faults and unconformities. It also involves analysing, identification of minerals and rocks which are abundantly available.

Mine Surveying Lab

Mine surveying lab involves a practice of determining the relative positions of points on or beneath the surface of the earth by direct or indirect measurements of distance, direction & elevation  by instruments such as  theodolite, dumpy level, total station, compass etc and showing the results in the form of a map, plan, or 3D computer model after certain calculations have been done.

Mine Environmental Engineering Lab

This lab involves the detection of mine gases and determining their concentration by various detection techniques to make sure that persons working in safe working environment. It involves the studying the principles and characteristics of mine fans which guides in their selection and operation. It involves the designing ventilation control devices and ventilation network analysis for providing adequate ventilation to working places.

Rock Mechanics Engineering Lab

This lab involves the determining mechanical properties of rock specimens by suggested procedures from ISRM that helps in the designing of underground structures, support system in underground mines, stable slopes in opencast mines. It involves the studying the operation of various equipment’s and instruments.

Mineral Processing Lab

This lab involves the various sample division techniques for determining true representative sample for analysis. It involves the study of various crushing, grinding machines and their characteristics of a given mineral sample which guides in their selection. This lab involves separation and concentration techniques for efficient separating valuable mineral from gangue.

Mine Planning Lab

After detailed exploration, for successful operation of a mine, there is a need for strategic planning in mining operations. For evaluation and selection of proper mining method, machinery deployment for excavation, transportation of run-of-mine ore there is a need of simulation software’s. This lab is equipped with simulation software’s like FLAC 2D & 3D, SURPAC, MINEX, MINESCHED, FLAC SLOPE, SLIDE, VENTSIM, ANSYS, 3DEC, WIP-FRAG for efficient planning.

Mine Machinery Lab

This lab deals with the study of principle of operation, applicability and limitations of machinery i.e., SDL, LHD, Continuous miner, long wall equipment’s, Surface miner, Dragline, Shovel, Dumper, Dozer etc.   deployed in mines which guide in their selection for efficient and safe operation.
