Laboratories – Mechanical Engineering

KLRCET > Laboratories – Mechanical Engineering

LABORATORIES:

WORK SHOP LAB

The Institute has a modern well established workshop, equipped with various traditional as well as most modern machines and latest tools and instruments. It imparts basic knowledge of various tools and their use in different sections of manufacture such as Fitting, Carpentry, Smithy, Electrical, Soldering, Plumbing Shop etc

STRENGTH MATERIALS LAB:

Demonstrating the basic principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments is the objective of the strength of materials lab. Measuring the properties of the materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness, ductility are conducted in the lab.

FLUID MECHANICS AND HYDRAULIC MACHINES LAB:

The purpose of Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery laboratory is to reinforce and enhance understanding of the fundamentals of Fluid mechanics and Hydraulic machines. The experiments here are designed to demonstrate the applications of the basic fluid mechanics principles and to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of the theory.

FUELS AND LUBRICANTS LAB:

To Understand the fuel and lubricants properties

MANUFACTURING PROCESS LAB:

The purpose of the lab is to learn preparation of various jobs using various manufacturing process. The student will be trained to implement similar features in preparation of jobs can be extended to implement in the preparation of complicated jobs. metal casting, welding, metal forming , processing of plastics.

METALLURGY LAB:

The purpose of this course is to make the students learn the concepts of Metallurgy and Material Science role in all manufacturing processes which convert raw materials into useful products adapted to human needs.

Kinematics and Dynamics Lab:

The purpose of the lab is to understand the kinematics and dynamics of mechanical elements such as linkages, gears, cams and learn to design such elements to accomplish desired motions or tasks.

Thermal Engineering Lab:

To understand the working principles of IC Engines, Compressors, I.C. Engines effect of A/F Ratio in a SI engine Performance Test on Variable Compression Ratio Engine IC engine Performance Test on a 4Stroke CI Engine at constant speed Volumetric efficiency of Air – Compressor Unit Dis-assembly / Assembly of Engines Study of Boilers

Machine Tools Lab:

To import practical exposure to the Machine tools, Thread cutting and knurling on -lathe machine. Drilling, Tapping, Shaping ,Planning, Slotting ,. Milling, Cylindrical Surface Grinding, Grinding of Tool angles

Engineering Metrology Lab

To import practical exposure to the metrology equipment and also to conduct experiments and understand the working of the same.

HEAT TRANSFER LAB:

To enable the student to apply conduction, convection and radiation heat transfer concepts to practical applications and also to estimate heat transfer coefficients in forced convection, free convection, condensation and correlate with theoretical values

CADD and MAT LAB

Students should be able to apply computer methods for solving a wide range of engineering problems. to acquaint the student with some of the terminology in this very new field and relate it to the basic engineering process of design and to provide an introduction to the basic analytical fundamentals that are used to create and manipulate geometric models in a computer program

ICS LAB:

Control System Lab exposes students & industry professional to study the fundamentals of Control System. Studies include how one device can be used to manage, command, direct, or regulate the behavior of other System Open Loop & Close Loop Control.

CAM LAB

These lab exercises will introduce you to process planning and the tools you will need to carry through on such a plan. In the end (lab III) you will produce a machined paperweight with your own unique inscription. You will become familiar with a CNC lathe and a CNC mill, as well as Mastercam, a computer-aided manufacturing software package. You will also learn G-code, the alphanumeric programming language used to control CNC machine tools.
