About the Department

Mining Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the practice of applying engineering principles to planning, development, operation, closure and reclamation of mines with due regard to safety and economics. The Department of Mining Engineering was established at KLR College of Engineering and Technology in 2011, with the approval of the JNTUH. The Department offers both B. Tech and Diploma program in Mining Engineering with intake of 60 students.

The Department has on its roll one Associate professor and 8 Assistant professors. The faculty members of the department have rich experience in industry, teaching and research resulting in multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary activities within the college.

The Department has well equipped with sophisticated instruments and state of the art software’s in laboratories such as Mine Planning, Geo Mechanics, Mineral Processing, Mining Machinery, Mine Environment Engineering, Mining Geology, Mine Surveying. The Department ensures that the student learned skills herein enable them to develop opportunities in Mining industries and Research institutions.

The students passing out from this Department have occupied vital positions in the Government Departments, Academic institutions, Research organizations, Mining software companies, Mining industries such as SCCL, CIL, NTPC, NMDC, NLC LTD, MOIL LTD, CIMFR, Dassault Systèmes Geovia and Private mining companies.

To produce competent mining engineers, fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, to cope with the challenges of Sustainable Development and Challenges in the Mining industry and be a preferred destination for undergraduate and graduate studies.
