Department of Civil Engineering

KLRCET > Department of Civil Engineering

About the Department

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2008, offering a B.Tech program in Civil Engineering. In 2010, it expanded its offerings to include an M.Tech program in Structural Engineering. The department boasts a range of well-equipped laboratories, such as Computer Aided Engineering Drawing, Programming for Problem Solving, Engineering Geology, Surveying and Geomatics, Concrete Technology, Hydraulics and Hydraulic Machinery, Strength of Materials, Advanced Surveying, Advanced Material Testing, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Advanced Structural Design.

Additionally, the department houses a dedicated research laboratory known as the Advanced Concrete Research and Innovation Center (ACRIC). ACRIC serves as a hub for enhancing concrete performance by integrating innovative materials and industrial waste, ultimately reducing cement consumption. This research center aligns with green building initiatives and strives to minimize resource wastage by repurposing materials from industrial and residential waste.

To ensure effective and engaging learning experiences, the department employs a diverse range of teaching methods. These include traditional classroom teaching, student presentations, video lectures, experiential learning (ExL), and online courses facilitated by both institute faculty and experts from around the world. This multifaceted approach enhances the overall education provided to students in the field of Civil Engineering.

Vision

To be an outstanding department devoted to provide high end research, technical education in Civil engineering which will produce socially aware professionals to provide solutions to global community.
