About the Department

Mining Engineering is a practical field that focuses on applying engineering principles to mine planning, development, operation, and sustainable closure while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness. Established in 2011 with approval from JNTUH, the Department of Mining Engineering at KLR College of Engineering and Technology offers both B.Tech and Diploma programs with an intake of 60 students per year. The department has a team of experienced faculty, including one Associate Professor and eight Assistant Professors, who bring industry and academic expertise to the classroom.

The department has well-equipped laboratories for Mine Planning, Geo-Mechanics, Mineral Processing, Mining Machinery, Mine Environment Engineering, Mining Geology, and Mine Surveying, helping students gain real-world skills. Graduates from the program have secured important positions in government departments, academic institutions, research organizations, and major mining companies such as SCCL, CIL, NTPC, NMDC, and private firms, demonstrating the program’s strong industry connections and career opportunities.
